NOTTINGHAMSHIRE WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER
RELAXED, Fun
Wedding photography
Hi, I’m James. I’m a Nottinghamshire wedding photographer specialising in natural, relaxed and documentary-led wedding photography.
I’ve photographed weddings at The Pumping House a number of times, and it’s a venue I know well.
If you’re looking for someone who’ll capture the atmosphere, people and all those little moments happening around you — without spending your wedding day constantly posing for photographs — that’s exactly how I work.
Wedding Photography
The Pumping House is one of Nottinghamshire’s most distinctive wedding venues, combining its original industrial character with a relaxed setting on the edge of Sherwood Forest.
Having photographed weddings here a number of times, one of the things I particularly like is how naturally the day can flow.
The ceremony, drinks reception, photographs and celebrations can all happen around the venue without spending large parts of your wedding travelling between different locations.
That suits the way I photograph weddings perfectly.
The less time you spend worrying about where you need to be next, the more time you have to actually experience your wedding.
The Pumping House Weddings
From a photographer’s perspective, The Pumping House gives us plenty of variety without needing to turn your wedding into a photoshoot.
The industrial architecture, brickwork, large windows and surrounding grounds all give us different options depending on the light, weather and time of day.
But having those options doesn’t mean we need to use every single one of them.
I’d much rather take you away for ten or fifteen relaxed minutes, create some photographs of the two of you and then get you back to your guests.
And if the light looks particularly good later?
We can always disappear again for another five or ten minutes.
Because I’ve photographed here before, I already know the venue and where we can go.
We’re not wasting part of your wedding day wandering around trying to find somewhere to take photographs.
The Pumping House also works particularly well with my documentary approach because there is always something happening.
While you’re enjoying your drinks reception, I’m looking for the conversations, laughter and reactions happening around you.
During the ceremony I’m not only concentrating on the two of you — I’m watching your parents, friends and family too.
During the speeches, I’m looking around the room for reactions.
And once the evening starts, that’s when people generally stop thinking about the camera altogether.
Those are often the photographs that end up meaning the most because they’re the moments you didn’t even realise I’d captured.

Relaxed wedding photography at the Pumping House
I’m James, the photographer behind 3rdEyeImages, and my approach to weddings is pretty simple — I want you to spend your wedding day enjoying it rather than constantly being pulled away for photographs.
Most couples who book me tell me they aren’t particularly comfortable in front of the camera.
That’s completely fine.
You don’t need to know how to pose.
You don’t need to know where to look.
And you definitely don’t need to practise what to do with your hands before your wedding.
When you need some direction, I’ll give it to you.
We’ll get the family photographs that matter to you, I’ll help organise everyone so they don’t take forever, and we’ll spend a little time getting relaxed photographs of the two of you around The Pumping House.
But for most of your wedding, I’ll let things happen.
I’ll be watching for the nervous looks before the ceremony, reactions when you see each other, conversations during the drinks reception, laughter during the speeches and your friends making questionable decisions once the dance floor opens.
Having photographed weddings at The Pumping House multiple times means I know how the venue works.
But that doesn’t mean I’m going to recreate photographs I’ve taken there before.
Your Pumping House wedding shouldn’t look like somebody else’s Pumping House wedding.
Your people, your personalities and what actually happens on your day are what make the photographs yours.
I’m relaxed around guests, happy to have a laugh and I don’t want anyone feeling like there’s a photographer watching them constantly.
The more comfortable everyone becomes around me, the more natural the photographs become.
So if you’d rather spend your Pumping House wedding celebrating with your family and friends than standing around posing for me all day, I think we’ll probably get along pretty well.

If you’d love your wedding photographs but also want the little moments from the day captured on video, Amy and I can cover your wedding together.
I’ll concentrate on photographing the story of your day while Amy captures wedding content alongside me.
Because we work together, it isn’t two completely separate suppliers trying to work around one another. We approach the day as one team while still keeping everything relaxed and unobtrusive.
Our full-day photography + content creation package is £1,500, with raw video clips delivered within 24–48 hours and edited reels within 5 days.
It means that while you’re waiting for your professionally edited wedding gallery, you’ve already got moments from the day that you can watch, relive and share.
