Hi, I’m James!

I’m the photographer behind 3rdEyeImages, based in Newark-on-Trent, Nottinghamshire, and photographing weddings across Lincolnshire, Yorkshire, the East Midlands and beyond.

I’m not the photographer who’s going to spend your wedding day constantly directing you, interrupting conversations or asking you to repeat moments because I missed them.

I’d much rather let you enjoy everything you’ve spent months planning.

My approach is relaxed, friendly and unobtrusive. I’ll chat with your guests, have a laugh with you and offer guidance when you need it, but I also know when to step back and let things happen.

And if you’re somebody who hates having their photograph taken, don’t worry. You’re exactly the sort of couple I enjoy working with.

You don’t need to know how to pose, where to put your hands or how to behave in front of a camera.

You just need to enjoy your wedding.

I’ll take care of the photographs.

What matters most to me is that when you look back at your gallery, you don’t just remember what everything looked like. You remember how it felt to be there.

Wedding Photography

BARDNEY HALL

Bardney Hall is a country house wedding venue in Barton-upon-Humber, North Lincolnshire, offering couples the opportunity to celebrate in a beautiful setting with both indoor and outdoor spaces.

But while the venue itself is lovely, it’s the people and what happens throughout the day that interest me most.

I’ve photographed Bardney Hall in two completely different ways, and that’s one of the things I particularly appreciate about it.

You can have a wedding where much of the day unfolds outdoors, with guests enjoying the gardens and celebrations continuing into the evening. Or you can make use of the house itself, with the ceremony, reception and evening celebrations taking place indoors.

Both create different atmospheres, and neither needs to follow a particular formula.

For me, the important thing is being able to photograph your wedding as you’ve chosen to experience it.

Outdoor Weddings at Bardney Hall

The wedding I photographed as the main photographer made full use of Bardney Hall’s outdoor setting.

The ceremony took place outside, followed by the reception and later the first dance, also outdoors.

What I enjoyed about that day was how the outdoor spaces became part of the celebrations rather than simply somewhere to take photographs.

With guests spending time together outside, there were plenty of opportunities to capture natural interactions, reactions and those little moments happening between the bigger parts of the day.

An outdoor ceremony also gives me the opportunity to photograph more than just the vows themselves. There’s the anticipation beforehand, the expressions from family and friends, the laughter and everything that happens as the couple walk back down the aisle together.

And having the first dance outside was another example of a wedding doing things its own way.

That’s something I always encourage. Your wedding doesn’t have to follow somebody else’s idea of how the day should look.

Indoor Weddings at Bardney Hall

My second wedding at Bardney Hall was entirely indoors, from the ceremony through to the reception and first dance.

I was working as a second photographer on this occasion, which meant I could concentrate on capturing different perspectives and the smaller interactions taking place around the main events.

Indoor celebrations naturally have a different feel from those held in the gardens. The rooms, the lighting and the way guests gather together all influence the atmosphere.

As a photographer, it’s about recognising those differences and adapting to them without interrupting the day.

Whether that means capturing reactions during the ceremony, conversations at the reception or the atmosphere of the evening celebrations, my approach remains the same.

I want the photographs to tell the story of what actually happened, not a version of the day that was created purely for the camera.

Natural Wedding Photographs Without Spending Hours Posing

One of the biggest worries couples tell me about is having their photographs taken.

They want lovely photographs together, but they don’t want to disappear for an hour or spend the day feeling uncomfortable in front of the camera.

And I completely understand that.

Bardney Hall offers plenty of opportunities for relaxed couple photographs, whether that’s making use of the gardens or finding a quieter spot around the venue.

We can take a little time together, have a wander and capture some natural portraits without making it feel like a formal photoshoot.

I’ll guide you when it’s useful, but I won’t expect you to perform for the camera.

I also believe that your couple portraits should fit around your wedding day, not the other way around.

You’ve invited your favourite people to celebrate with you. You should get to spend time with them.

The Moments You’ll Want to Remember

Wedding photography isn’t just about the ceremony, confetti and first dance.

It’s also about everything that happens in between.

The reactions during speeches. The unexpected laughter. The hugs from people you haven’t seen in ages. The little moments you might not even realise happened.

Those are often the photographs that become more meaningful over time.

Because the reality is that you won’t see everything happening on your wedding day.

While you’re talking to one group of guests, something completely different might be happening somewhere else.

That’s one of the things I love about documentary wedding photography. It allows me to capture the story beyond the moments you already know are coming.

And when you receive your gallery, you get to experience parts of your wedding that you might otherwise have missed.

Planning Your Wedding at Bardney Hall

Having photographed both an indoor and an outdoor wedding at Bardney Hall, I’d encourage couples to think about how they want their day to feel rather than just how they want it to look.

You don’t need to plan every minute around photography.

Allow some time to enjoy your drinks reception, catch up with guests and take everything in.

We’ll make time for any family group photographs you’d like and a few relaxed portraits together, but the rest of the day can unfold naturally.

If you’re still researching the venue itself, I’ve also written a separate Bardney Hall wedding venue guide, covering more of the setting and what makes it an appealing place to get married.

You can also find current venue information directly on the Bardney Hall website.

Why Choose 3rdEyeImages for Your Bardney Hall Wedding?

I think choosing a wedding photographer should be about more than liking someone’s photographs.

You’re inviting that person to spend one of the most important days of your life with you.

You need somebody you feel comfortable around, somebody who understands what matters to you and somebody who isn’t going to make the day feel like a photoshoot.

With me, you can expect natural documentary coverage, a relaxed approach to portraits and photographs that focus on genuine moments rather than forced poses.

I’ve also had the opportunity to photograph Bardney Hall in both indoor and outdoor settings, so I’m familiar with how different celebrations can unfold there.

But ultimately, I want you to book me because you like the way I photograph weddings and feel that my approach is right for you.

Not because I promise to make your wedding look like somebody else’s.
