How Long Should Your Wedding Drinks Reception Be?
July 21, 2026
FOR COUPLES WHO WANT REAL MOMENTS- NOT STAGED MEMORIES.
Your wedding isn’t a photoshoot. It’s one of the biggest days of your life, and my job is to help you enjoy every moment while quietly documenting it as it naturally unfolds.
I don’t believe wedding photography is about creating perfect poses.
I believe it’s about helping people feel comfortable enough to simply be themselves.
One of the biggest compliments I receive isn’t about the photographs.
It’s hearing couples say:
“It felt like having another friend there.”
That’s exactly how I approach every wedding.
Calm, Relaxed, Unobtrusive.
Always looking for genuine moments rather than creating them.
Because years from now, I don’t want you to remember having photographs taken.
I want you to remember having the best day of your lives.

At 3rdEyeImages, I photograph weddings in a calm, documentary way.
I don't spend the day directing every moment.
I let your wedding happen naturally, stepping in with gentle guidance when it's genuinely helpful and quietly blending into the background for the rest of the day.
If you're drawn to natural photography, relaxed energy and storytelling over perfection, you're in the right place.

You’ve spent months planning one of the biggest days of your life.
The last thing you should be worrying about is what to do in front of the camera.
Most couples tell me exactly the same thing before their wedding.
“We’re going to be so awkward.”
The funny thing is…
By the end of the day, they’re usually saying they forgot the camera was even there.
That’s because I don’t believe wedding photography should take over your day.
I’ll quietly capture everything as it happens, giving gentle guidance when it’s needed and stepping back when it’s not.
The result?
Photographs that feel exactly how your wedding felt.
Weddings aren't about getting everything exactly right.
They're about being present in the moment.
The conversations you didn't plan.
The laughter that just happens.
The atmosphere that builds naturally throughout the day.
That's what makes it meaningful.
And that's what I focus on capturing- without interrupting it.
I’ll give gentle guidance whenever it’s needed, without turning your wedding into a photoshoot.
The day should revolve around your family and friends, not around your photographer.
Real moments, genuine emotion and memories that bring you straight back to how the day felt.
Before a wedding, most couples tell me they're worried about feeling awkward in front of the camera.
Afterwards, they tell me they barely noticed I was there.
Somewhere in between, I've usually helped pin a buttonhole back on, calmed a few nerves, straightened a dress, entertained a flower girl, rounded up family members for group photographs and quietly photographed hundreds of moments that nobody else even realised were happening
That's what having me there actually feels like.

James went above and beyond from the moment we first spoke through to after our wedding day. He captured so many natural, candid moments without ever making the day feel staged or rushed.
We had the perfect balance- we got the photos we wanted, but it never felt like it took over the day.

Real moments, captured as they happened - not staged or interrupted.
If you’re looking for someone who'll help you enjoy your wedding day just as much as they'll photograph it, I'd love to hear about your plans.
Over the years I’ve photographed weddings across Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire and Yorkshire, and one thing I’ve learnt is that couples often ask the same questions.
How much time should we allow for group photographs?
Should we have an engagement shoot?
Do we need a second photographer?
What happens if it rains?
That’s why I’ve created a growing collection of wedding planning advice based on real weddings and real experience.
No generic checklists.
Just honest advice from someone who’s been lucky enough to witness so many incredible wedding days.
“James, I’m not actually sure where to start. From that first video call we knew you were the right choice for us! You are so much more than just a photographer! It felt like you were a friend with a camera at our wedding day. You made us feel so relaxed, gave us advice, bantered with the bridesmaids, entertained the children and stepped in to save the night when the sparklers wouldn’t work! I don’t think we will ever get over our wedding day, it was simply everything we imagined it would be”

“When we were looking for a photographer for our wedding we knew we wanted someone who would fit into our day and keep it breezy as we didn’t want lots of staged photos looking still and bored.
As soon as we met James on a video call we knew he was the one for us. He listened to what we wanted and needed and made it feel like a very bespoke tailored service.
On the day we couldn’t have been any happier. James fitted into our day like he had known us and our friends and family for years!”
