What Actually Happens When You Book Your Wedding Photographer?
Booking your wedding photographer is one of the most exciting steps in the planning process, but many couples aren’t entirely sure what happens next.
At 3rdEyeImages, my goal is to make the whole experience feel relaxed and straightforward so that you can focus on enjoying your wedding day while I quietly capture the moments that matter.
From your first enquiry to receiving your final gallery, here’s a look at what the journey usually looks like when couples book me to photograph their wedding.
Your Initial Enquiry
The process usually begins with a message through my website.
Most couples share a few details about their plans, such as:
• their wedding date
• venue or location
• the type of coverage they’re considering
• a little about their day
Once I receive the enquiry, I check availability and reply with more information about my approach and pricing.
A Quick Chat to Get to Know Each Other
If your date is available, I usually suggest a short call or video chat.
This isn’t anything formal — it’s simply a chance for us to talk about your plans and for you to ask any questions you might have, and for you to get to know me and me to know you both.
It also helps break the ice so that by the time the wedding day arrives, you already feel comfortable having me around.
Many couples say this conversation is what helps them feel confident they’ve found the right photographer for their day.
Securing Your Wedding Date
If you decide to go ahead, your wedding date is secured with two simple steps:
• signing the contract
• paying the deposit fee
Once those are completed, your date is officially reserved in my diary.
From that point onwards, I’m there to help whenever you need advice or have questions during the planning process.
Planning Your Photography Together
As the wedding approaches, I’ll usually check in to talk about the plans for your day.
This might include discussing things like:
• preparation timings
• ceremony details
• group photos
• couple portraits
• the general flow of the day
I’m always happy to help with timeline suggestions as well, because a relaxed schedule makes a huge difference to how the day feels.

The Wedding Day
On the wedding day itself, my approach is very relaxed and documentary-focused.
For most of the day, I work quietly in the background capturing the natural moments that unfold — the laughter, reactions and atmosphere that make your wedding unique.
When guidance is helpful, particularly during couple portraits or group photographs, I keep things simple and relaxed so that nothing ever feels forced or awkward. I am always on hand throughout the day to help in anyway necessary.

Editing Your Photographs
After the wedding, I carefully go through the images and edit them so that the final gallery reflects the atmosphere and emotion of the day. You will receive sneak peek photos within 48 hours after your wedding.
Each photograph is adjusted for colour, tone and consistency to ensure the entire collection feels cohesive.
This stage takes time, but it’s an important part of delivering a gallery that tells the story of your wedding properly.
Receiving Your Wedding Gallery
Once everything is ready, you’ll receive your photographs through a private online gallery.
From there you can:
• view your images
• download high-resolution files
• share the gallery with family and friends
Many couples tell me that seeing their gallery for the first time feels like reliving the whole day all over again.
