Having photographed several weddings here over the years, I’ve come to realise that one of the best parts of getting married at Hull Guildhall isn’t just the ceremony—it’s everything that happens afterwards.
From the moment you step outside, your wedding becomes part of the city.
Whether you’re walking to your reception at Social on Humber Street or another nearby venue, the city centre creates an atmosphere that’s completely different from a countryside wedding.
A Beautiful Historic Ceremony Venue
Located in the heart of Hull, Guildhall combines impressive architecture with a surprisingly intimate ceremony room.
It’s easy to see why so many couples choose to get married here.
Although it’s right in the city centre, once you’re inside the ceremony room everything feels calm and focused.
It’s a beautiful setting to exchange your vows before stepping back out into the city with your family and friends.
One Of My Favourite Parts… The Walk Through Hull
This is what makes Hull Guildhall different.
After the ceremony, many couples don’t immediately get into cars.
Instead, they walk together through Hull city centre towards their reception.
One popular choice is Social on Humber Street, but there are plenty of fantastic reception venues nearby, giving couples the chance to enjoy the city before the celebrations continue.
From a photography point of view, I love this part of the day.
Guests chat as they walk together.
People stop to congratulate the couple.
The excitement hasn’t settled yet.
Everyone is smiling.
It feels relaxed.
And because nobody is being asked to pose, some of the most genuine photographs happen completely naturally.

There isn’t a huge gap between the ceremony and the next part of the day.

One thing I really like about Hull Guildhall weddings is that they don’t feel like they finish when the ceremony ends.
For many couples, it’s simply the beginning of the celebrations.

Every route is different.

That’s one of the reasons I always enjoy returning here.
