1. Focus on each other, not the camera

Instead of trying to pose perfectly, engage with your partner. Share a laugh, whisper something sweet, or hold hands. These genuine interactions will create beautiful, natural photos.

As your photographer I will always strive to make you feel at ease during your couple photos, I will not just get you to stand there and smile awkwardly, that's not me.

After getting to know you both over the months up to your wedding day I will know if you will need physical guidance or just nice simple prompts to make your photos more natural and fun and less awkward.

2. Trust your photographer

Your photographer (me) is a professional who knows how to capture your best angles and moments.

Trust their guidance and let them direct you, even if it feels a bit awkward at first.

I will always speak to you numerous times before your wedding day, during this time I will ask questions and get to know you and your wants and your dislikes, and will bring this information with me on your wedding day to make you both feel at ease. Lets face it everyone has a best side they would prefer on a photo.

3. Practice some poses beforehand

If you're feeling self-conscious, practice some simple poses with your partner before the wedding day. This can help you feel more comfortable and confident when the time comes.

I would always suggest to my couples at a meeting to either practice some poses or even take screenshots of ideas they feel comfortable doing and send them to me.

I feel that it is always best to do pose ideas your couple feel comfortable doing then suggesting ideas on the spot that they may not like.

This is why it is  always best to speak numerous times to your photographer beforehand.

4. Take breaks and breathe

It's okay to feel nervous, but taking deep breaths and stepping away for a moment can help you relax. Remember to stay hydrated and eat well to avoid feeling sluggish or irritable.

In the morning make sure you have eaten, it is  always best to put on a little continental breakfast or fruit, even if you just eat a croissant it is better than nothing.

When I take you both aside for your couple portraits I don't spend all that time taking photos, it's a time where both of you can take time together, relax and take a minute to talk together.

Your wedding day is a celebration of your love.

Don't take it too seriously. Embrace the moment, laugh, and enjoy the process. The more relaxed and joyful you are, the more natural and beautiful your photos will be.
